What is Psychotherapy and How Can It Help?

Psychotherapy is a vital tool for those looking to improve their mental health. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, or life transitions, therapy can help you gain insights and develop strategies to cope.

TheraCounsel represents a group of big-hearted psychotherapists, including Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFTs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, helps people with a variety of life changes and emotional difficulties, eliminating or controlling troubling symptoms to increase well-being and healing.
In the first session, the therapist gathers information about your needs, discusses therapy types, the treatment goals, session length, and how many sessions may be needed to reach your goals.

Psychotherapy helps clients:

  • Resolve Conflicts with your partner or others
  • Relieve anxiety or stress due to work, health, or other situations
  • Cope with major life changes such as divorce, loss, or health challenges
  • Learn to manage unhealthy reactions like anger or conflicts
  • Come to terms with ongoing health issues like diabetes, cancer, or chronic pain
  • Recover from physical or sexual abuse or witnessing violence
  • Cope with sexual problems, whether physical or psychological
  • Sleep better if you have trouble with sleep
